Idaho Falls was a short stop over for us on the way to Salt Lake City. We braved the rain, and took a stroll through the Idaho Falls River Walk and Greenbelt. There were nice views of the entire falls and surrounding city.
There were lots of ducks and geese to watch. But, the highlight of this area was the collection of unique park benches located along the pathway:
With time to spare and rainy weather, we decided to check out the Museum of Idaho. They were featuring a special Glow Exhibit about bio luminescent creatures, such as fireflies, glow worms, and fungi. The exhibit was cool, but not quite “hands on” enough to hold our kids attention for long. The exception was the “dress up” area. Here the kids dressed up in glowing jellyfish hats and firefly costumes and fluttered around in front of a lit up wall.
The Museum also had a main street reminiscent of the early settlers to the area, as well as some Native American exhibits and animals native to the area. There was a small kids section, with a cave and climbing tree, that occupied the boys for a little while. All in all, it was a good way to spend a rainy afternoon in Idaho Falls.
Other recommended spots to visit in Idaho Falls include the Idaho Falls Zoo, the Japanese Pavilion, the Giant Eagle Waterfall Nest, and Hell’s Half Acre.
