I’m not sure if it was the sweeping mountain views or the small town charm. But, I quickly fell in love with the town of Bozeman.

Museum of the Rockies
The boys and I visited the Museum of the Rockies, which had a massive collection of dinosaur bones. Somehow my kids never really got into the whole dinosaur phase, but I was fascinated!
There was a nice section on Native Americans, as well as early Montana life. However, their favorite section was the children’s exhibit about Yellowstone National Park. They spent more than two hours, catching and measuring fish, cooking meals in the log cabin, playing with camping gear, and watching “geysers” erupt.
Living History Farm
Outside of the Museum was a Living History Farm. It features an original farm from the 1890’s. A costumed blacksmith, carpenter, and weaver were available to answer questions and demonstrate their craft. We were able to walk the grounds and colorful garden. We also toured the entire house, including the children’s bedrooms, which contained vintage toys that the kids could play with.
College “M” Trail
We also did our first “official” hike here in Bozeman. The trail took us up the mountainside to the large “M”, which stands for the University of Montana.
It was a pretty well traveled path, and we marveled at the people jogging and biking up and down the steep and narrow trail. We carried our bear bell, since we had been warned that the bears were filling their tummies before going into hibernation. The views along the way were beautiful, and from the top, the entire city of Bozeman was spread before us. Bozeman is absolutely gorgeous!
