I’ve lived in the Chicago suburbs my whole life. Until last week, I was unaware of this great little Money Museum at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Located on LaSalle and Jackson, the museum is next to the Chicago Board of Trade.
The Museum was quite small, but it was a nice stopover visit during a downtown Chicago visit. My young boys enjoyed standing on the glass floor over hundreds of coins.
This unbelievable cube was filled with one million dollar bills!
There were kiosks that allowed us to design hundred dollar bills with our own faces.
The kids each got to take home a free souvenir. They dipped their hand in the bowl for a baggie of “fed shreds,” shredded US dollars.
Forty-five minutes to one hour is plenty of time to explore this tiny gem of a Museum. It is worth the visit if you’re in the area!
