SAERTANO, TUSCANY, ITALY : La Ghiandaia
Located in the rolling hills of Saertano, Tuscany, at the foot of Mount Cetona lies La Ghiandaia. The 1,700 year old converted Church now boasts several unique guest rooms in classic Tuscan design.
Each morning the owners supplied a wonderful breakfast of rolls, bread, cheese, meat, cereal, jams, juices, coffee, and tea.
While you eat, you can enjoy the breathtaking views all around. There is a large swimming pool for guests amidst the gardens.
Within a short distance of the Auto Strade and half way between Florence and Rome, La Ghiandaia is an excellent base for your excursions throughout Tuscany. Day trips are easily accessible by highway.
There is plenty of enjoyment to be found just staying on the grounds and renting bikes, hiking, or swimming. It’s also an ideal stopping point after taking a scenic drive through Tuscany. The drive on S146 from Montalcino to Montepulciano is amazing, as recommended by Rick Steves.
